My iHealth Sauna is beeping, what do I do?

All iHealth Saunas feature a state of the art digital control panel, internally mounted for safety and easy access. Five minutes before your sauna session is due to finish (based on the time you set the sauna to run for) the timer will alarm for 30 seconds, notifying you that your sauna session is about to end.

When the session time is up the iHealth Sauna and all heaters will automatically turn off. This safety measure is built into every iHealth Sauna and means if you have fallen asleep you wont over do your sauna session. Please note that the lights and stereo system will remain on.

What sort of timber do you use in your far infrared saunas?

iHealth Far Infrared Saunas are manufactured primarily for commercial use and only quality fittings and materials are used in production. Our far infrared saunas are made from Hemlock Spruce which is sourced from Canada. We use Hemlock, rather than Cedar, as it is a wood that has no toxins and almost no odour. We love Cedar, however it emits an oil (which gives it its' lovely aroma) but unfortunately some people have sensitivity to such strong smells.

There are no toxic glues, resins, veneers, plywood or MDF used in the construction of an iHealth Far Infrared Sauna.

How do I use an iHealth Sauna?

  1. Turn your iHealth Sauna sauna on and set the desired session temperature and time using the digital control panel. We recommend sauna sessions should last around 30-45 minutes at 45oC – 50oC.
  2. Allow approximately 10-15 minutes for the sauna to warm up before beginning a session.
  3. The heaters will automatically maintain the desired temperature inside the sauna. The ceiling vent can be opened at any time for air circulation. If you are still too warm, open the door until you feel comfortable.
  4. Position the iHealth Saunas Pure Wave heaters to specific areas like feet, legs and calves.
  5. To absorb perspiration and keep the sauna tidy during the session, place a towel on the bench and floor of the sauna. Keep one towel handy to wipe excessive sweat from your body.
  6. Remember to always drink plenty of water before, during and after your iHealth Sauna session
  7. Taking a hot shower or bath prior to the sauna session will further promote perspiration.

How long does an iHealth Sauna take to heat up?

Depending on which iHealth Far Infrared Sauna you have, heat up time can take between 10 to 20 minutes. Because of its the size the iHealth One Person Sauna will heat the quickest, and our Deluxe 4 Person Corner Unit the longest. Remember to close the top and bottom vents to enable more efficient heating.

What temperature should I set my iHealth Sauna to?

The ideal operating temperature for an iHealth Far Infrared Sauna is between 41 and 45°C, depending on your health condition and your tolerance to heat.

Where conventional saunas use hot air to transfer heat, an iHealth Saunas' unique, two heater system uses far infrared heat technology that warms your body directly.  The lower, more pleasant operating temperature of a far infrared sauna provides more health advantages and a more comfortable environment where you can still breathe normally without the discomfort of high humidity or steam.

When you first get your iHealth Sauna your sessions should be no longer than 30 minutes.  Those in good health may extend this to a longer period once you are comfortable with the sauna heat.

Before starting any vigorous activity simply get in your iHealth Sauna with your training gear on, and wait until you just begin to break a sweat. An iHealth Sauna session is also a great post-activity warm-down, especially in cold weather.

How do far infrared saunas work?

Traditional saunas raise the temperature of the air in order to warm the body - therefore what you get is a cabin of hot air. Far infrared saunas work differently, they produce the same infrared energy we get from the sun. Instead of heating the air within the cabin, far infrared saunas use over 80% of its heat energy to be directly converted to heat onto and within the body. This process is called conversion.

Far infrared radiation has nothing to do with ultraviolet light, ultraviolet radiation (which causes sunburn and damage to your skin) or atomic radiation (the kind from a nuclear bomb).
